    115# 9:51. Still battling unexplained tendency to jump backwards on power cleans. I had a couple that were “fixed” today. Also, not releasing my grip as the elbows come around always causes my left wrist to hurt like hell.

    Back finally felt “ok” today, so I did a max effort 500m row. Previous PR was 1:30 so I was confident I could break to 1:29

    Pulled a 1:27 pace all the way to the last 150 meters, slowed to 1:33 and then through sheer will power and Kevin yelling at me got it back to 1:31, but let the rower coast the last 5 meters instead of pulling another short fast stroke… ended up with 1:30.1

    very very frustrating. I know I can get 1:29 next time though when I’m off steroids and better focused.

      Look at the bright side, the steroids will bring your deadlift and back squat up. Plus make your biceps look bigger.

      I linked the first set, 8/7 split on second, 6/5/4 split on third. I really worked on dipping to the power position and forcefully opening the hips on every clean, was able to catch almost all in a standing position. my grip gave out first which caused me to break it up, something that has slowed me down on a few WOD’s lately. started to arm pull late in the third round, just kinda succumbed to fatigue of the forearms and was really over gripping the bar at that point.

    Started to do this one with rx weight and after 5 warmup reps I figured out that was a piss poor idea. I have really got to work on fully opening my hips and not arm pulling.

    I love this picture Russell! Makes me want to jump in that water!

    I scaled to 75lbs and finished in 7:25. Linked first 15, then broke the cleans up into sets of 5. All burpees unbroken. Great WOD.

    Gotta push through my new burpee “comfort zone” into a new one. I have grown accustomed to a certain slow yet steady pace. Thank gawd Russell was there to yell at me or it would have been more 4:40ish.
