  27. Matt says:

One of my neighbors up in Park City, Tennessee, is a retired, 70+ year old gentleman who has got to have the prettiest lawn that I’ve ever seen. I mean, this yard of his is somewhere comparable between a golf course putting green and a major league outfield turf. Over the years I’ve occasionally tried to produce a respectable lawn of my own. Now, in my mind I’m thinking, “He has all the time in the world to work on his yard while I’m off working in Huntsville every day.” And no matter what I have done to that yard, I can’t get on his level.

Finally, one day I went over to his house to see if he could help me work on my lawn mower. I hum-hauled around and then finally asked him how I could get a better lawn. He asked me a few questions about my unsuccessful efforts and then finally said, “Stop pulling weeds, keep planting seeds.”

It is an awesome feeling to get a PR, learn and execute a new skill, or get a better score. But hardly anything beats the feeling of knowing that you have made some type of contribution to a person or organization that you hold in such high esteem.

I thank you all for planting seeds every day.

P.S. Today was a scheduled rest day. I gotta be ready for Saturday morning. #ttptb
