I did Jake’s Super-Tommy Z workout this am. We did 15-12-9 rep scheme on rope climb.
I had to sub FS @ 135lbs for thrusters. Shoulder can’t do thruster yet.
21 FS reps
15 rope climbs
15 FS reps
10 rope climbs
in 33:00 cutoff
Garden gloves make a big difference on hands.
27:35
PR by almost 14 minutes
Wow!!! That’s a great PR!!
damn nice work man
33:38 doing the 15-12-9 rope climb reps. 6 minutes over PR for normal Tommy V but did 9 more rope climbs than rx’d sharing one rope with 4 people. 6 am is setting the standard with 36 ascents.
I think you would have pr’d with the right rep scheme. I’m pretty sure it would have taken me well over 6 minutes to do an extra 9 rope climbs.
I know I would have gotten a lot further with the right reps. I only got about halfway through the 2nd round before the cut off. That was really painful. Thanks to Steven for letting me use his socks.
this is a message board to blog on what we did or did not do. Not a board to make excuses for a certain outcome! Thank jake for being there to push you hard every day and making you step outside your comfort level, even by unknowingly adding reps to your workout.
hopefully your kidding…
i was neither kidding nor being malicious in my intent. the comments were directed at no one, and everyone. i was stating my opinion, that Jake pushed you guys outside of what you came into the gym expecting to do. even if by mistake, he took the workout to a new level and forced you to push yourself, which is a good thing, no, a great thing. if you feel cheated by not being able to pr then store that for next time, bring that extra motivation and kill it! too often we allow ourselves to expect whats coming, only push hard enough to slide by leaving no real wake in our path and then wonder why we are not, at the least, only slightly improving but instead stuck in a seemingly never ending plateau. If you read this and are some one who comes into the gym with only expectations of the unknown and giving it your all no matter what then my comments are not intended for you in any way!
great pic russell. I can’t wait to try out those bands. we need to make use of those platforms you built and set them up for bands!
29:09
Bad shoulder so did 135 front squats like Larry
Nice work Justin and to the 6 am class for setting the bar high with a few extra rope climbs!!
34:05 thrusters as rx’d, extra rope climbs
21 thrusters, 15 rope climbs, 15 thrusters, 12 rope climbs
You go girl!! That’s AWESOME!!
Made up the clean and jerk today.
205-225-235(x)-235(PR)-245(x)-245(x)-245(x)
Was able to clean 245 twice today which is a 20# squat clean PR. Jerk needs a lot of work.
Sorry to the 6 A.M. class today. I looked in my notebook early this morning to see my last time for Tommy V and for some reason had it written down as 15-12-9 rope climbs. My thinking is a little hazy on Monday mornings. My bad guys!
34:02 as rx’d
rep scheme of 15-12-9 rope climbs…fingers are shredded, remembered the pants but didn’t think about gloves.
Good job to Tony this morning for pushing me. Last time i didn’t finish this workout and scaled thrusters at #95, so 34:02 with thrusters at #115 and a few extra climbs is a big improvement. Felt much stronger today. This was a tough one. Good job on the PR Justin!
21:14-scaled in 25 minute cut-off
Thrusters as rx’ed, and rope climbs 3-3-3
Got to the top legitimately today for the first time! Other times in the past few months, I can’t say I’d ever touched the tape….more like 1-2 pulls away.
And, I’d say out of those 9, 3 were to the top, the others were 2/3 or more of the way up….
Yeee hawwww-Annie!
31:28 as rx’d
2 rope climbs left at 30 min cut off but wasn’t about to stop there.
30:41 last time but scaled the thrusters at 95#
nice work aaron, that is great improvement. 20# makes a world of difference!
Modified in 26:26
21-15-9 Thrusters @ 80lbs
4-2-1 Rope Climbs
Almost fell on the last rope climb. My fingertips are still numb. Anyone else lose the feeling in their fingertips?
As Rx’d 1 round + 15 thrusters + 3 rope climbs. I was out of gas after the first 12 rope climbs. Thursters weren’t too bad.
Aaron was a machine, today.
sprints for us today…150m, each minute on the minute for 20 rounds.
If you couldn’t make the next one, 5 burpee penalty.
19:47
Actually considered another try at the rope (last time was about halfway?) but until my shin heals, I’m chicken.
So, subbed KPU’s for rope climbs. Since 6 a.m. thought we were to do 15 – 12 – 9 rope climbs and the sub was 5 KPU’s for each climb, I completed 21 thrusters as rx’d, 75 KPU’s (not all chin over bar and the last 10 were strict with a band) and 15 thrusters at 34 min cut-off.
Scaled to 65# thrusters
In 25:00 I completed 21 Thrusters + 12 ropes + 15 thrusters
