Spent the weekend in California. It is a long way to for just a three day weekend.
Was on the flight from Atlanta to HSV with Robert M. He was in good spirits but looked like he had run through a brier patch. Congrats on the finish. 21 hours must have been brutal.
After getting home after midnight, I am off to Boston through Sunday. I am enjoying the travel mostly, but my workouts are suffering. Hope to see all of you next week. I hope to give a report from CF Boston.
Two rounds of:
Right arm barbell push-press 12 reps
Left arm deadlift 12 reps
Run 800 meters
Left arm barbell push-press 12 reps
Right arm deadlift 12 reps
Run 800 meter
Death Race Withdrawels: walking around all day wondering why i’m not carrying a bike, axe, saw, tree stump, camelback, food, water, 20% of my bodyweight in rocks, etc while hiking though rivers, up mountains, under barbed wire etc…
Death race was awesome. Very challenging. I would definately recommend it to anyone who wants a good challenge!
Kevin: thanks for letting me borrow the axe. It chops wood great, but is a pain in the ass to carry for 21hrs. I was tempted several times to throw it off a mountain 🙂
9 basic crossfit moves (squats, overhead, push press, dead lift, etc) all done a zillion and fifty times with only a PVC. Let me tell ya…PVC done enough times with enough intensity actually becomes pretty damn hard.
Then, tabata squats 20 sec, rest 10 sec for 4 minutes (8 rounds)…oh, and the rest is IN THE SQUAT…ugh….only rule, no shaking out the legs or resting hands on the ground.
18-18-17-16-14-12-11-11-10 Score ended up being the lowest number. I actually did well on this one.
Then, FRAN. ugh. should not have done Nicole the night before (and did I mention we had just squatted 9000 times…ugh!). Totally sucked at my pullups and ended up doing one at a time…even my kip left me…9:24. Totally sad.
Cert was awesome overall. Learned alot. Ready to get back in the gym and use it!
“Nicole” – 5.5 rounds (did Russell really think I could finish 400m with 2 minutes left on the clock?? Come on!) 63 pullups (18,12,12,10,11). PR by 7!
Way to go Robert! Congratuations Katherine!
Just an idea for the pullup cage – if a box is needed/wanted for assistance, especially INSIDE the cage, use the 12″ tall foam “cushion” instead of a wooden box. Same effect, less blood. I learned it the hard way… Sorry Larry’s toes!
Nicole -first timer-5 rounds, 125 jumping pull-ups…..I hate running, I hate running, I hate running; hey hey hey hey…..No looking forward to Wed. workout then…..
Started Nicole, then came down on the end crossbar supporting the pull-up cage. Twisted my ankle bad and had to stop. Hobbled out to the car wrapped in ice, and then writhed in pain most of the night.
Nicole

Garth,
I’m headed to Boston this week as well, I won’t be there until Friday but I plan on checking out XFit Boston on Fri and Sun.
Two rounds of:
Push-press 12 reps
Deadlift 12 reps
Run 800 meters
I used both arms for push press and dead lift: 2 rounds push-press @ 75 lbs, 2 rounds @ 65 lbs; 2 rounds dead lift @ 105, 2 rounds @ 95.
I HATED this one! I figured out that my lower back is weak.

400M run
50 air squats

Hope to be in class tomorrow
