Did this at Matrix while kids played in open gym this am. Forgot about the 3 minute rest between rounds. Did all 5 rounds straight through it sucked, anchored sit ups.
    32:03

Annie, Barbara and Cindy are 3 tough gals and almost too much for one 39 year old (married) man to handle in 4 days.

  2. Kerri says:

Thought I’d sparred with Barbara before, but I looked back in my journal, and I haven’t.
    First timer:
    30:32-4 rds finished.
Ripped up hands even more today after Cindy, but, hey, that’s what CrossFit is all about, right?

GREAT Nutrition class today Russell…Looking forward to the 2010 challenge!

  4. Amy says:

21:48 PR Wahoo! My hands are definitely feeling the effects of Barbara! Im sure my body will feel it tomorrow! gotta love it!

  5. Barry S says:

3 rounds in 42:37, jumping pull ups.

    • Kerri says:

And, then, subtract your rest times of those 3 rounds, right? So,42:37-9 =32:37
That looks much better, don’t ya think? =o)

  6. tracey says:

4 rounds as rx’d…43:19 total time. So i guess you could say (-) 9 min.??? Pull ups are slowest out of the four exercises. Tried to stay as strict as possible on form and range of motion.
Ive been spoiled with arm use on sit ups…forgot to stuff my bra, for chest to floor push ups!!! dang it!

    • Kerri says:

I just added my 4rds of time together….So, that took away the confusion of how many rest minutes, or the delayed start, etc.
      Killer of a WOD regardless!

    (2:53)+(3:09)+(4:08)+(4:30)+(5:11)

First time doing Barbara, crashed on the push-ups in the 3rd round and from there it was all downhill. Thank God its a rest day tomorrow.

Great turnout at the nutrition class!!!

Daniel and I and all four kids are doing a 30 day challenge this month. We have generally eaten zone/paleo for the past year, but we haven’t always measured and we have cheated a lot with desserts. For the past two days, I’ve weighed and measured everyone’s food. I’ve been giving each kid and myself 2 block meals, and Daniel is eating 4 block meals. The only problem I’ve noticed so far is Alea, my 5 year old, is saying she is hungry more often. She is on the tumbling and trampoline team at the Matrix and practices 5 days a week for an hour and a half each day. I may have to increase her blocks.
None of our kids are overweight at all. The reason we started doing this is just to teach our kids how to eat healthy.
My father who is overweight was in the ICU for the past 3 days because of atrial fibrillation. His doctor put him on a low carb/low sodium diet and after speaking with my father, I realize he has no idea how to eat healthy.
The kids have been really excited about this 30 day challenge. We made it into a game and we weighed all the kids and measured their height and they each measured their “muscles”. They said they were going to see who had the biggest muscles after 30 days because we told them eating like this would make them healthy and strong.
Now we just have to get Crossfit Kids up and running!

    • Russell says:

PLEASE DO NOT feed your kids the zone diet. I’m sorry if you’ve misunderstood something we have said to think we meant for you do do this.
Make good food choices, feed them like little cave men, but do not measure and weight their portions. They are growing little people and do not need a caloricly restrictive diet.

    • Russell says:

It’s also ok to feed your kids in something close to the zone ratio, just let them eat as much as they would like.

I plan on going to crossfit kids cert. in March. I want to be ready to roll at the new facility. Little whipper snappers get ready!!!! πŸ™‚ IT WILL BE ALOT OF FUN!

    • Krista says:

Please dont think I am starving my kids. I am definitely not restricting their amount of food. If they are still hungry, I give them more. Measuring their food was just something fun they wanted to do. They saw me measuring mine and Daniel’s and wanted to do theirs too. None of them have actually eaten an entire 2 block meal at one sitting, but they do get hungry in between meals now because they arent eating junk anymore. If they say they are hungry, I give them a healthy snack. Don’t freak out people. πŸ™‚

    • Amy says:

I think you would be awesome at Crossfit Kids Tracy! Im excited for you!

    • Russell says:

I figured you guys weren’t holding your kids to a daily block total, but I wanted everyone reading your post to understand the difference. I’m glad you are teaching them to be aware of what they are putting on their plates.

I will post pictures on Picasa and put a link up here if any of you want to take a look. If you hate a picture, just let me know. Some people are not crazy about seeing their max-effort face in pictures. I saw a lot of those today. Nice work everyone.

I will be working on a video for the site over the next few days/week and see what I can do. I am a beginner video editor, so it will be my science project.

Slow on the pullups, pushups, and situps after the first round. Not a fan of unanchored, no arm swing situps.

how’s that song go….”feels like the first tiime, feels like the very first tiiime”
That sucked!! I am so ready to get past this holiday diet slack fest and get back on the zone diet.
This was rough, closest I’ve ever come to meeting pukie.

Garth, Cant wait the pics and the final cut of the movie edited to music!

  12. tracey says:

BTW for those of you who want a bodyfat pinch(3 point site) done…email me to set up a time. You should not have worked out prior to testing and wear shorts please. I will also tape measure a 6 point site. You can also take measurements by yourself, I suggest cm. vs. inches. The scale is NOT a good sign of progress…so ladies DON’T weigh yourself! ONLY at the beginning and the end of challenge, JUST FOR INFO.

For some reason I did 1 minutes rest in between each round. Brain fart. Killed my arms doing it this way. They were gassed.

  14. Kerri says:

I’m just the posting queen tonight. =o)
Must sell: 4 BB King tix for this coming Thursday night (Jan 7) at the VBC.
Didn’t know that Bama was going to make it all the way when the tickets went on sale….
Let me know if you’re interested, or if you know someone that is!!

    Thanks!
    Kerri

    3 rounds + 34 in 33:30 w/band pull-ups

I stopped at the 45 minute cut-off but started in the second heat. Definitely feeling the effects of my first day back since the Christmas Eve workout. It’s been way too long. πŸ™‚

  16. klowe says:

18.51 – 3:26 off of PR and I felt every second. So….massive amounts of Guiness, dehydration, and cookies for my breakfast are not the optimal work-out fuel???

Sore this morning like a person that is just starting CrossFit. I’ve got some work ahead of me to even stand a chance for the garage games! Which tells me that I needed that.

    Thanks Barbara

    • Robert S. says:

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I have been more sore since doing Angie than I have ever been. Diet hasn’t really been off too bad except for the CFHSV party, but I’ve for sure got some work to do before the garage games.
