Having done both P90X, P90X+, the One on One video series and CrossFit I’ve got an opinion on the posted articles.
P90X program is very effective. But, try it for 9-12 months and see if you can still stomach the videos. Boredom pushes you to try/buy something new. BeachBody is in the business of selling videos and supplements. Your job, dear consumer, is to buy more stuff. You’ll only do that if your seeing some results. The program does have you do a “performace test” both Day 1 and Day 90. But, the ultimate goal is to change your physique. If your goal is to look good naked…it’s a good program.
I didn’t care for, or follow the recommeded diet. Opting for the old “Body for Life” diet.
Oh!!! P90x is good for some people. However having to do workouts usually solo, is not motivating for alot of folks. I for one, like to show up some place and be told what to do and be graded on that performance. I like the structure of Crossfit, BUT I’d be lying if I said that my motivation to look good naked wasn’t a priority as well.
Didn’t plan on working out to day, but felt like it was time. Took a full week off of working out after Oktoberfest, and ate the zone diet for only 3 out of 4 of my meals. The last meal of the day was whatever the hell I wanted, to include pizza, milkshakes, chips and salsa, beer… you name it.
I strongly recommend this form of recovery after competition
This was my second time to do Fran–the last time was at my cert and I sucked pretty bad due to hand injuries. Today was comical because of how I ate and the fact that I had to take a Zofran and drink an orange gatorade in order to prep for the workout!
Nausea-induced pregnancy diet of:
Bfast: Oatmeal and Blueberry Yogurt
Lunch: A billion tiny hashbrowns, 1 egg with cheese
Snack: Root beer
11:38-First Time Fran-ner-Kpu’s the best way I knew how (but DEF not chin above the bar; just trying to convince my body that one day this will be how it’s done each and every time)
I do have 2 bloody ripped calluses on each hand to attempt to show for my hard work though. Prayers said tonight that there’s no more pull-up WOD’s this week. Great job to all that PR’ed…that’s a crazy workout!
I so wish I could have done Fran today. Josh gave me the nasty nasty (virus that is) and both of us are cuddled up under our germ infested sheets hacking away. Hopefully we’ll be back in the gym soon.
Ok, so Fran wasn’t a blazing success:
10:34 with double jpu’s (42-30-18) because my kpu’s are still just halway. GOOD NEWS is linking 10 double-unders during the warm-up. The CF gods have been kind…
Sad that I’m going to miss Fran today. In birmingham. I will make it up on Wednesday.

First time Fran. Russell said it was going to be more of a heavy lifting WOD than a met con….and it was. A total spanker.
Then stayed to watch Russell, which was crazy impressive and inspirational.
go figure…..been waiting for Fran for 6 months now and…..ankle throws a fit….and Elizabeth tomorrow??? WTF…the CF gods hate me.
Ankle is about 75% better than yesterday….so Fran “may” be doable tomorrow. We will see how it goes.
