“I just wanted to say thanks…..for turning this lazy and HORRIBLY out of shape person into someone that looks forward to getting my butt kicked on a daily basis. Before Crossfit I had tried EVERY diet pill, diet, etc. I actually shot myself up 5 times a week with a pregnancy hormone to lose weight. After having my best guy friend tell me that I wasn’t “that” fat, I decided I needed something to whip me into shape. I decided that I wanted to Crossfit. We stayed with this “friend” most of our vacation last week in Florida and he finally told me how proud he was of me and that he could tell a huge difference in not just how I look….but how my self esteem had improved. I think I walk with a little more pep in my step now.
I just wanted to say major thanks. I never thought I would be able to do half of the things that I do now on a daily basis and I owe it all to the awesome coaches at Crossfit Huntsville!!!”
“The intensity and use of functional movements at CrossFit Huntsville makes it unique. Age and current physical fitness are not a factor, CrossFit has made me feel more active and energetic, allowed me to better handle life’s physical challenges, and maximize my physical potential.
The more you put in, the more you get out, and improvement can be seen at any age. I have not found a more balanced, functional and fast exercise program. I get more out of 10-30 minutes of a CrossFit WOD than several hours in a gym with other programs. Is it easy? No. Nothing worthwhile ever is. But it works. I don’t think it is possible to train with CrossFit and not see impressive results.”-John D. Wheeler – MD (OBGYN)
“The camaraderie at CrossFit Huntsville has definitely helped keep me motivated, as we are all working toward a common goal. As a woman, it is very empowering to see how quickly my body responds to the workouts and to feel the increase in strength and endurance, as well as my overall energy level.
This is definitely a lifestyle change for me and I am very happy to have been introduced to Crossfit!”-Katelyn Dunn
“Our team’s experience at CrossFit Huntsville has been outstanding. I had hoped to accomplish an increase in strength, fitness and athleticism and I have been extremely pleased. The competition aspectand mental strength component are two added benefits that I did not expect to play such a large part in the workouts.”-Danton Cole, UAH Head Hockey Coach
“Crossfit is my fountain of youth. I believe that movement is the key to health, happiness and fitness. My goal is to maintain full function of body, mind and spirit. The high intensity training at CrossFit HSV is a safe and highly effective means to that end. The body is a tool for greater purpose, therefore training is a means to increase the quality of life.”-Patrick Baldwin, M.D
“Growing older isn’t nearly so scary to me now that I have a brighter vision for how active I can be with the proper exercise regimen. I really hope your business thrives and can’t imagine why it wouldn’t. I’ve spent hundreds in chiropractic visits and tried all kinds of plyometrics they recommended but with little relief to show for it. The best chiropractors told me getting worse was inevitable. Thanks to CrossFit I’m completely better.”-Stephen Mayers
“I have played college and professional sports, and CrossFit is the greatest fitness lifestyle I have ever been exposed to. It has changed they way my family lives. Crossfit takes a high level of commitment but it is the best thing you will ever take on. It does not matter if you are 18 or 68 it
“After doing CrossFit by myself for some time, I began working out at CrossFit Huntsville. Training with a group of like-minded, goal oriented people helps to motivate and push you in a way that’s near impossible to do on your own. CF has helped my fight training tremendously. My boxing stamina has increased and my Jiu-Jitsu game has completely changed. I have been around some of the top fighters and trainers in the world and I know that CrossFitters in general are among the elite of the world’s athletes. I’m proud to be a member of CrossFit Huntsville and look forward to the challenges yet to come.”-“Iron” Will Blankenship -MMA instructor and 2006 Colosseum Combat amateur middleweight champion
I have now been a crossfitter for 9 months, and nicotine free for 9 months as well. This might not seem like much, but this is the best I have lived in 15 years. I didn’t think I would ever be able to find a gym or activity again where I could feel progress and support as much as I have with CFHSV. Just wanted to say thanks to all of the coaches for the ass-kicking positive attitude.

CrossFit has changed my life. I’m sure that’s how lots of testimonies start out, but there’s a good reason for it. Unless you’re “in it” you can’t understand it.
My husband found CrossFit about a year ago after researching other avenues for fitness because we were burned out on the globo lifestyle. My argument was that I wasn’t in shape enough to start Cross Fit, so I did my own thing through a women’s only fitness program. While I was perfectly content to go do my 30 minutes a day 3 times a week and gab with the gals, I was always a little jealous of this thing that my husband had. He was always talking about a PR that he got or how much his snatch had improved compared to the last time. He always had such enthusiasm about his work outs and was so proud of his accomplishments. My workouts were…mundane and I didn’t have any accomplishments.
About 6 months into my husband’s CF journey he started competing in local CF events. It only took one competition for me to see what I was missing. I had never seen anything like it, the people were amazing and I’d never seen such camaraderie before. The more competitions I went to, the more I started to think “I could do this”.
So, after I had our second son I started my CF journey. I’m not even 3 months into it and I can’t imagine ever being without it. I obviously still have quite a way to go in my training, but I’m doing more now than I’ve ever done and that’s something I’m proud of. The sense of family is the thing that has caught me the most off guard, I knew the WODs would be tough but I had no idea just how much I’d come to love the people yelling and screaming at me to finish that last round. I know that I COULD NOT do this without all the help and encouragement from my fellow CFers. I’m honored to be part of this family. People just don’t know what they’re missing by not doing this!-Kristi Simmons
I started crossfit on June 15, 2010. I weighed 270lbs, my doctor had just informed me that I was diabetic and I had high cholesterol and high blood pressure(don’t remember the exact numbers). I also couldn’t go up stairs without breathing hard, couldn’t do a pull-up if my life depended on it. As of February 25, 2011, I weigh 235lbs my fasting blood sugar is well below normal(dropping over 30 points) and my cholesterol and blood pressure has come down to normal levels. I have 9 pull-ups and I have been able to complete some WOD’s as RXed.( Fran=10:14). Crossfit has not just made me feel better about myself, it has changed and saved my life. Thank you to everyone of the coaches and athletes at crossfit Huntsville.
“I recently marked by 1 year ‘anniversary’ with CrossFit. As is common to nearly all CrossFit’ers, it has a been a fantastics and eye-opening year. I never considered myself to be out-of-shape prior to CF, but I have made tremendous strides in overall physical capability and long-term health. I am a much better athlete than I was a year ago. Even so, I am continually humbled by so many great folks at CFHSV, and how far I can still progress! In June 2011 I achieved a lifetime goal of completing the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run in sub-24 hours. I have zero doubts that CFHSV and CrossFit in general played a HUGE role in my success there. Thanks to all my brother and sisters at CF, and looking forward to many more years of continued improvement and success for all of us!”-Josh Kennedy
“During the 1st workout of the 2013 Open and, for the 2nd year in a row, the 135lb Snatch was included as part of the 13.1 WOD and for the 2nd year in a row I was unsuccessful in every attempt I made to get the bar over my head. I was so frustrated. I knew I had the strength to get it up but my technique just wasn’t good enough. It was not until then that I realized I simply had to improve my technique if I was ever going to get beyond this plateau. I made the commitment to start attending the Berry’s Barbell & Olympic Lifting Club (BBOLC) every weekend to work on both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Dennis broke down my technique and had me start from square one. I found myself using new and unconventional barbell techniques and turning kettlebells upside down and hoisting them over my head. The weekly programming that he designed helped me focus on every element involved in both lifts, from my footwork to rapidly dropping under the bar. I had no choice but to improve and get better. But the BBOLC didn’t just improve my technique on the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. After only a few short weekends, I began to notice that my progress was transitioning over to my CrossFit Huntsville workouts, specifically with my overall strength. I began setting new PR’s on my deadlifts, front squats, presses and other lifts. Not only was the BBOLC making my Olympic lifting better, it was also making me much stronger. I am now able to Snatch 135lbs and I know that I’m not far from surpassing that. I don’t know if the 2014 Open will include a 135lb Snatch but I know if it does, I’ll be ready! If you’re like I was and you’re sick and tired of struggling with these two lifts while pushing through a WOD, do yourself a favor and give the BBOLC a shot. You’ll be glad you did.” – Jarod Sadler, Wells Enterprises-Blue Bunny, District Manager – Retail Operations-Jarod Sadler, Wells Enterprises-Blue Bunny, District Manager – Retail Operations
All my life – even as a little kid – I was never limber enough to bend down and touch my toes; I couldn’t even get past my ankles. But since starting CrossFit Huntsville Yoga at the recommendation of CrossFit Huntsville’s head coach, I can touch the floor for the first time in 27 years after only a month. If you’re on the fence or concerned about getting positive results, I encourage you to take the plunge. You won’t be disappointed!
