“During the 1st workout of the 2013 Open and, for the 2nd year in a row, the 135lb Snatch was included as part of the 13.1 WOD and for the 2nd year in a row I was unsuccessful in every attempt I made to get the bar over my head.  I was so frustrated.  I knew I had the strength to get it up but my technique just wasn’t good enough.  It was not until then that I realized I simply had to improve my technique if I was ever going to get beyond this plateau.  I made the commitment to start attending the Berry’s Barbell & Olympic Lifting Club (BBOLC) every weekend to work on both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk.  Dennis broke down my technique and had me start from square one.  I found myself using new and unconventional barbell techniques and turning kettlebells upside down and hoisting them over my head.  The weekly programming that he designed helped me focus on every element involved in both lifts, from my footwork to rapidly dropping under the bar.  I had no choice but to improve and get better.  But the BBOLC didn’t just improve my technique on the Snatch and Clean & Jerk.  After only a few short weekends, I began to notice that my progress was transitioning over to my CrossFit Huntsville workouts, specifically with my overall strength.  I began setting new PR’s on my deadlifts, front squats, presses and other lifts.  Not only was the BBOLC making my Olympic lifting better, it was also making me much stronger.  I am now able to Snatch 135lbs and I know that I’m not far from surpassing that.  I don’t know if the 2014 Open will include a 135lb Snatch but I know if it does, I’ll be ready!  If you’re like I was and you’re sick and tired of struggling with these two lifts while pushing through a WOD, do yourself a favor and give the BBOLC a shot.  You’ll be glad you did.” – Jarod Sadler, Wells Enterprises-Blue Bunny, District Manager – Retail Operations
