Spoke with my grass fed beef supplier (client of mine) today. He has 5 calves that are pure grass fed supplemented with Bermuda grass hay. The calves are between 450 – 550lbs right now but can send them to be processed at whatever weight we choose.
$1.00 on the weight on hoof price (expect about 50-60% hoof weight returned in ready to eat meat)
Local guy in New Market and said we are welcome to come check out the farm and calves anytime. Earliest he could have them processed is in two weeks.
My family is definitely in for one calve and I told him I’d spread the word to you guys.
So….if interested let me know and I can arrange an order and take deposits etc.
Kevin
also…for those not wanting to commit to a GF cow Cost-Co does sell GFB ground burger in the meat section. Verde Farms. I checked em out last night and all seems legit. Their price was about 3.20 a lb for ground…..so do the math and you can see the VERY FAIR price being offered to us.
I’d love to see everyone who can make it at the Crossfit Huntsville Ground Breaking on Monday after the lunch class. We are talking to Tortoras about catering and I hope to get a group pic. This is a momentous occasion for our little group, and it would be nice for everyone to be there even if just for a minute.
There are also going to be plenty of interested non-crossfiters who might be swayed by our show of camaraderie.
Pregnant Modification:
65# Clean
400m sprints (that were actually about 500m due to an error)
Did this somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes but the watch stopped so I am not entirely sure of the time. Felt good to do something but it continues to be WAY harder than last time I was pregnant.
Is the Hero WOD (Lumberjack 20) going to be run at the normal Saturday class times?
…27:35 with 95# today. Tried like hell to jump from my heels and thrust the hips forward. Damn that technique is hard. Thanks again Josh and Russell for the help and motivation.

I don’t think I need a whole calf, but I would be interested in going in on one with a few other people. Let me know if anyone else is interested.
I would be interested in spliting one with somebody. If I’m not mistaken one side of beef will yield every cut there is.
I’m in for sharing cost and cow.
I can be one of the few…..I’m interested too!
ditto for us! we could go halves with someone…
Count me in!
count me in for splitting one
Kevin,
Me, Katy D, Kerri W and Lesha S are going in together on a cow.
I think Lesha has your contact info and will follow up, but I wanted to let you know asap so we don’t loose our heffer.
Thanks!
I’ve got Robb and Robert for 1/2’s on one cow
and you guys for the 1/4’s of a cow
me and Angela are down for full calve but will need to 1/2’s with someone if they keep growing.
I’ll call Robert (the cow man) and let him know what is up so far.
Kevin
I would like to split, if that is still possible. Now…I’ve just got to get my stove fixed! 🙂
