If you are going to cheat, make it epic

If I hear one more personal trainer say that squatting below parallel is dangerous, I may just blog about it

Scaled to 95# back squat, 10# dumbbell. Did 8 rounds in 20:54

  2. Robb Dempsey says:

“Pigs in the Mud” sounds like a winner for epic cheat!

As soon as I saw the title to the squat article I thought about a picture in one of the gyms on base. The first time I saw it I had a turrets episode. It shows a person in about a 1/4 squat with the word “Better” above it and a person squatting below parallel with the word “Dangerous” above it. A friend of mine (who happens to CF on his own time) that used to be a trainer there marked through those words and wrote “WEAK” on the 1/4 depth squat and “STRONG” on the below parallel depth. The unfortunate thing is that he doesn’t work there anymore, and the person that replaced him is…. let’s say at less than optimum performance levels. It really aggrivates me to see people who are obviously not concerned with their own fitness dishing out this kind of advice.

  4. Justin says:

Had to sub a 45lb barbell since I don’t have any 45lb dumbbells at home. I spent a lot of time standing around. There wasn’t really anything enjoyable about this one.

  5. Karen says:

    5+7 as rx’d (135lb for squats, 30lb dumbbell)

I agree with Justin, nothing enjoyable about this one…except that it is over now.

  6. Kyle Mosier says:

6 rounds exactly with 165# BS and 30# OH Walking Lunge. Not too bad considering I missed the rack halfway through and dropped one side of the barbell. I lost a little time because of that. Thanks to Jake and Tye for helping me regroup.

  7. Russell says:

Happy Birthdays to Tracey Rauer and Katie Glasscock!

  8. LeshaS says:

5 rounds even as rx’d (I agree with Karen and Justin. Glad it’s over!)

  9. Penelope says:

    7 rounds + 5 (85# back squat, 15# dumbbell rd 1, 20# 2 – 7)

  10. Garrett D says:

4rds + 19 reps. stood around way too much. Yesterday was my first day back to eating completely clean and I only really ate about half my blocks. It showed. I agree. The best part of that workout was the end.

  11. Robert S. says:

Robert: “How many rounds do I have to do?”
    Tracey: ” A lot… At least 6.”

Note to self: If you ask Tracey how many rounds you have to do the WOD is going to suck very bad.

    6+6 as rx’d

  12. Robb Dempsey says:

    4 rounds

  13. Daniel says:

4+7, I need some deep fried butter for recovery.

  14. Emily D. says:

deep fried oreos are HEAVEN (can get them at the Rock House in Guntersville…fried by a Crossfitter)….and deep fried cookie dough ain’t half bad either 🙂 haha…the fat kid in me won’t go away.

    rx – 8 + 25

    Ty killed this WOD today!

I love AMRAPS! I didn’t really think this wod was that miserable. I’ll take this over a Cindy any day!

    Happy Birthdays!

  16. tracey says:

    rx’d 6+17

  18. Josh says:

7 + 7 BS as Rx’ed – this WOD sucked and I am dragging ass lately. Glad to be back in the gym consistently and the 6 am class is a great group to train with!

  19. Tyler says:

    9 rounds
I had fun not having fun.

  20. Mandee Miller says:

    5 rounds as rx’d

  21. Katie says:

    95# bs and 25# db

  22. Kerri says:

As rx’ed: 6rds +18; it was ALL I could do to chase Tracey…sweatfest for sure! I think that means I’m finally hydrated after the weekend. Still had a dry mouth, which is atypical, but the sweat was a pouring this PM.

Also, yesterday’s WOD: 1 min HS hold; 30/25/5
    Push Jerk-100-110-120-130X(2)-125-130

  23. Russell says:

    9 rounds even.

Oh the joys of starting back at CrossFit after a long time off. Everything sucks from the very instant the workout starts to the very end, I can’t get enough air and stare at my shoes half the workout, and I get side cramps like the fat kid at a birthday pool party.

Thanks Tye for killing this one. Your score is the only reason I got 9 rounds.
