I hate the snatch (because I suck at it) but it’ll be good practice. I look forward to it.

My ab muscle still hurts but I’m tired of not working out. Can you please make up a WOD for me to do during the lunch class that doesn’t engage my abs too much. I tried doing a push up to see if I could do this WOD but its not happening. Thanks!

    • Patrick says:

Bad idea. You should still be at ice and ibuprofen for another couple days.

    • Kerri says:

Right there with Patrick, Krista….I was in a car accident about a year ago;got banged up on the armrest and hurt my ribcage/diaphragm pretty bad…no fractures, nothing(just knocked the breath out of me and scared me pretty good). After about a week, I was back in the gym (pretty much against Dr.’s orders). After another 2 weeks, I was still in pain, no better, and not able to be productive in the gym (tough to do ANYTHING in the gym without affecting your core). Went back to the Dr., got fussed at, got another round of anti-inflammatory meds, and was told NOT to do ANYTHING, but a slow walk on the treadmill (if that), for ANOTHER 3 weeks…Amazing what listening to the Dr. will do. After that 3 weeks, no pain at all….So, it took me 6-7 weeks to fully recover (i.e. no pain). Listen to the doc!!

    • Krista says:

OK. I’ll listen. It was so hard for me to get to the gym for 20 days while the kids were home for the holidays, then the snow days, and more holidays and now I’m hurt. It feels like I haven’t worked out in forever!

When you can’t workout its even MORE important to eat clean. That is atleast one thing in your control and you can benefit from!:)
Hang in there…We’ve all been there.

This was a surprisingly tough wod. Doesn’t look that bad on paper, but I was about to puke up a lung by the end of it. Once I realized my sub-6 minute goal wasn’t going to be met, I mentally lost steam… Then I dicked around and missed sub-8 by 2 farkin seconds. Disappointing.

  11. Craig Herr says:

Made up the dead lift WOD today.

    315(3) 335(3) 355(3) 385(2) 315(4)

*Back was tired after the second 385-made an almost 40 decision and decided to back it down.

Maybe one day I’ll learn to not work out when sick and/or exhausted.

Went to gym with idea of C&J 1 X 7. After having the complete inability to drop to a squat and failing the jerk at 255 X’s 3(which is normally easy) it was apparent that I NEEDED to just leave.

Now I feel like completer s#it than before I went in.

Moral of story. Rest when your body tells you to rest.

  15. Robert S. says:

The snatch has yet to come up when I’m off of work, so The only coaching I’ve had is from watching the Coach Burgner videos. This fact = I suck at this lift. I decided to use today to just practice this lift at the NASA gym.

  16. Zak says:

    Power Snatch 8×2
Strict Pull Ups 5 x max reps (3 min rest)

    Complete 3 rounds for time:

10 Standing Broad Jumps (minimum of 6 feet per jump)

  18. Barry S says:

14:55 as Rx’d…& that’s the first thing I’ve ever done as Rx’d! woohoo!
Thanks for the push up suggestion, Garth…appreciate the assist.

  19. ReneeH says:

11:34 scaled to 45#. Halfway through I thought my arms were falling off, thanks Tracey for putting in the Eminem. It really did help work some of my angst out! Had done really well on Zone until yesterday, broke down and had a diet Mt. Dew and 1 chocolate chip cookie (at least not together). The good/bad news is I didn’t even enjoy it (bad news for me, good news for the Zone). Today, I blew it even deeper – but vow to myself to start anew tomorrow, especially since I have seen such good results in the past week. You’ll have to trust me, I REALLY deserved that skinless Popeye’s chicken breast tonight…..

    • ReneeH says:

Amendment to post: Blahhh! That Popeye’s skinless breast still made me feel like I ate a cup of Crisco. So not worth it….

  20. Karen says:

9:00 as rx’d. Need to learn to control the weight more as it goes to the ground. Mine bounced around a lot and the clips loosened several times (although the break to reset the weight wasn’t altogether unwelcome!).

  21. Garth says:

    Power snatch 2s
    95, 95, 115, 115, 135, 135, 135, 135
    Strict pull-ups
    17, 13, 10, 9, 9

    Complete 3 rounds for time:

10 Standing Broad Jumps (minimum of 6 feet per jump)
    21 KB Swings 2 pood
    24 Push Ups

Zak did some solid KB rounds and I could not keep up.

  22. Russ says:

    11:51 as RX’d.

  23. Katie says:

11:27 with 55# Snatch. I know my form needs work, but it was good to work on snatches again; it’s been a while!
