Good article. I need to pass that along to a couple of my friends who “work with their trainer” a couple of days a week and are always complaining they see no results.
I injured my back over the weekend trying to move a big tool box… haven’t been able to do anything active since. Hopefully I’ll be ready to do a little bit tomorrow or the next day.
Being 30 something with slow-healing injuries sucks ass!
Today we did 5 rounds for time of:
10 ring dips
15 kb swings
20 abmat
400m run
32:12…I could get 2-3 ring dips each set, then had to finish assisted…did too many ring pushups during the warm up!
have fun at pizza night! definitely not something you’ll find over here worth eating…the ice cream, however, is killing me! free baskin robbins! every meal! must….stop….spoon……
Free baskin robbins when you don’t hav much else “good” food available??? That’s just cruel! Glad you’re doing well over there, Barry. P.S. I’m back in the CBM group at QNA. So good to be working with these folks again! Also just had lunch with Michelle L. and she said “hi!” she’s getting married October 1st!
Spent probably 10 minutes of this WOD failing on 245. It’s not a matter of getting under the weight I just don’t have the strength in my front squat to get it out of the hole….Extremely frustrating
Great to see all the PR’s from the morning classes
115 – 165 (PR). I wasn’t sure where to start out on this one. I probably started out too low. I didn’t do the squat clean method either. I tried to work on my power clean form. I got my PR six or seven times, so I probably should have gone higher.
I thought I was going to make the beer/pizza fest tonight, but I have an 8u softball game with two of my girls tonight. Hopefully, I can make the next one.
115-140(PR) Full squat clean. Form started becoming questionable at 140 but I felt if there had been longer rest intervals, I might have been able to go higher. Got 140 several times, then decreased to 135 then 125 to work on form.
Congratulations Todd! I did the Muscle Up Happy Dance for you! Paul, I will do the Muscle Up Happy Dance for you also! Great work!
Still split cleaning the heavier weight… it was weird… when I allowed myself to do the split clean to get the weight (rather than trying not to do it), the weight went up fairly easy. I still need to work on squat cleans for sure, but I was happy to see that if I need to go there, it’s OK for max efforts. Thanks Russell/Kerri/Tracey for the great coaching today!
75/80. Had a good chat with Russell tonight about my sudden “timidness.” I’m having freak out “is doing this heavy lift gonna hurt my pregnancy?” fears that are messing with my head during my WODs over the last couple of weeks and it’s making me subconsciously back off from things and lose form. Need to have a little talk with myself and get my confidence back because I’m doing and feeling just fine… 🙂
Just a reminder. CrossFit Huntsville guys night is tonight at Tommy’s Pizza at 7 o’clock. Hope everyone can make it, see you guys there

155-200(PR)
Paul Pepe got his first Muscle Up today as well. Great job!
I am leaving for ATL this afternoon so I won’t be able to make the Pizza/Beer fest. Count me in on the next one.
Hate I’m going to miss this one… I love cleans.

Bad form kept me from getting 245. I got under it several times. Not bad though since my front squat PR is only 265.
135-185(pr)
Congrats to the 1st time MU folks!
Looking forward to hanging out with all the guys tonight!
215(PR)/175 I really liked the format of the WOD. I hope that maybe we can apply it to other lifts on non-mainsite days. PR’d by 20 lbs.
165 – 215 (PR)
did not use the squat clean method. Tried to focus on regular clean as my form really needed work. PR by 30lbs.
*Way to go Todd and Paul!!!
185-235

95-120(PR) with Full Squat Cleans on heavier weights.
I definitely need to work on my form.
I did get two kipping HSPU’s today before the WOD.
I’ll keep chipping away… one HSPU at a time. 🙂
275 / 255
-had 280 in the deep catch 3 times in a row but couldn’t stand up with it. Makes sense after yesterday’s WODs
85 – 120(pr)

I split cleaned the heavier ones as well…..it feels easier 😉
Katie, you did GREAT today blasting your old goat of a PR!!!!!! Way to keep pushing, and even make it look somewhat easy!!!
65-90 PR. First time really trying for a decent weight…….need to get my elbows up faster.
I liked this workout! First strength type workout that I didn’t get super frustrated.
115-140(PR by 10#)Tried 145# several times; just couldn’t get it today.
But definitely should get it next time….
