    Well…..1 yr ago today Josh looked at me and asked me why I had a shit eating grin on my face (yeah…I was a smartass even on the first day) 🙂 I had my first taste of Russell….standing inches from my face yelling at me to get the freaking bar up without hitting him (dang shoulder presses..I still hate them!) I won’t lie…..Russell scared me and I wasn’t really sure I was going to make it a month…much less a year.

    Today is my 1 year Crossfit anniversary. I still swear I was the laziest, mushiest, fluffiest chick to walk through those doors. My air squat was a joke (ahhh….FIVE weeks of squat therapy), I couldn’t do jack with my arms, and let’s not even start on my running “ability”. I had NEVER lifted weights in my life. I had never even ran a 1/4 of a mile without stopping. I was lazy and a chunk. I was the girl that lived in Florida and NEVER wore shorts or went to the beach and always had something to cover me up. I hated myself but was too damn lazy to do anything about it. I had a friend tell me I wasn’t “that fat” and something just clicked….and I joined Crossfit a week later 🙂

    I felt like death yesterday…..had a crappy workout and was feeling down on myself, but after looking back I have come such a long way since I started….gone up 70 lbs on my deadlift, linking KPUs, ran my first 5K without stopping/walking, back squat has gone up 100 lbs, and I actually enjoy DUs…..but Russell still scares me 😉 haha!

    so anyway….BIG, HUGE, MEGA thanks to Russell, Josh, Jake, Tracey, and Dennis for pushing me to be the best person I can be….even when I whine and don’t want to do it 🙂

    so glad I drank the kool-aid!

      Congrats Emily. To hear you put it like that…I’m seriously inspired. I would argue those same things about myself, so to hear that you’ve come so far makes me feel better about my efforts. Keep doing what you do! You rock & you are for real an inspiration…especially after reading this!!

    Emily, congrats on the year. If it wasn’t for you and Garrett starting CF, and Garrett and I having a conversation about it during ‘man weekend’ this year, I’m not real sure where I’d be right now. So even if you don’t realize it, you’ve impacted others as well, thanks for that.

    My quads were screaming during warmup. I’m definitely in for a rude few weeks.

    9-6-3 of: 115# Thrusters
    18-12-6 of: Strict Pullups + Ring Dips

    I did like 4 or 5 muscleups during warmup and evidently blew my taters. Once the wod started I had 4 failed attempts on the MU, then went over to the pullup bars.

    Workout update:

    Saturday- did “Nasty Girls” As Rx’ed – 5:12

    Sunday- Muscle snatched 135, snatch-balanced 225, snatched 195 on second attempt and ran out of time.

    Today- AF workout #3 with Tracey
    10-minute AMRAP: 10 Front Squats (125/85), 10 Box Jumps (30″), 10 Pullups

    completed 7+3 and felt like I was having an asthma attack. I’m submitting it but If I get beat I’m doing this damn workout again on Monday and getting at least another round.

      Nice job Russell. Keep us posted on the AF comp and if you win. I will check the site. Perhaps they are offering power racks and reverse hypers this time.

      Also good luck on the work-up for the USAW Comp. Some strong snatches. Get on him Jake!

      Im doing it again too. I looked at 30″‘s of box for too long! It was a mental challenge. Im so happy i did it though, thanks Russell for making me stick to the 30″.

    Scaled : stopped at 20 min cutoff

    100# thruster
    (3 pull-ups / 3 ring dips) per rep – so (27 / 18 / 9)
    Got through 12 reps of round 2 PU/DIP combo

    4:44? I think that’s what I wrote on the board.
    -MU’s fell apart in round of 6’s
    -First thruster of round of 6’s gave myself a nice upper-cut to the chin damn near knocked myself out. Smoooooth like butter I am.

    Yep, it was scaled, and yep, it felt awesome!!! Thrusters 45#, all unbroken, 12-9-6.

    18-12-6 Jumping pullups and jumping ring dips.

      Way to go Momma!! Glad you’ve gotten past your ligament pain, and are back to pushing yourself and doing thrusters unbroken!! Who cares if it’s scaled!!

    Whoever happens to be training tomorrow at 0600, I’ll be there. I forgot to sign up today, and don’t have a computer other than this great phone to sign up.

    Again faster wod 3+10 should have been able to get 5. Fear of the box slowed me down. Super pumped that i did it. 24″ seems like 20″ now.

    todays wod: 105# thruster and jumping mu’s 15:47…hard combo of pressing motion’s back to back.
    starting to feel good again…after the no sleep and sinus hit me hard for 2 weeks.

    I’m proud of my little youth hockey team!!! They are so fun to coach.
    They love crossfit dodgeball…would play it for hours if I let them.

    Scaled: 100# for thrusters and 27/18/9 jpu’s and j’ring dips

    Gonna try to get a PR on the row tomorrow!!

    Way to go Tracey on the 30# box. Can you teach me to master the fear?
    Maybe it’s a 24# box with weights stacked on top at first…..Whatever it takes, I’m game!
