I zipped through pretty good on the cleans, but hit muscle failure way too early on the dips. This was a 0:51 improvement though.
After giving it some thought, I’m pretty sure its stress, not sickness, that is causing my times to go up and my workouts to feel so terrible. This makes a lot more sense in general.
3.31 – goal was 3.30 so I’m pretty happy with this. form sucked, missed a clean, and dropped the bar to many times. Room for improvement for sure.

Apparently the CFmain site standard is full squat cleans for this WOD. The default CF clean is a full squat clean where as a power clean is denoted as such. I want to do this one again with full squat cleans to see what the diff in time would be. Definitely see how it could suck more with the quad burn of full squat cleans.
Thanks Kevin! I wondered about that too (Jeff asked about it in the warm-up today). The only thing I don’t get is the WHY. For example, if doing a full squat clean is what is used to get the most weight up, why do a relatively light weight for the workout? I can fairly easily get 95# up with a power clean and I am really not that strong. Any ideas?
The Why is so that you will develop more capacity at a Full squat clean. It really doesn’t matter what version of the clean we do in a WOD as long as it is comparable and measurable. We will probably do the full squat version next time as we have done the power-clean version the last three times this WOD has come up. Some workouts denote “power clean” and “squat clean”, so they are obviously being less specific about this one. I say do whatever you feel like doing that day, and after yesterday, I personally didn’t feel like doing more squats.
Just to let everyone know why its important (or at least interesting) to keep detailed notes in your journal:
I was very proud of my performance today since last time we did Liz, I finished in 11:01 with 65# Cleans and Rubber Band Dips….today, I had a faster timed and did the workout as Rx’ed.
Then I read the note at the bottom of the page: went home and got diagnosed with swine flu, 103.7 fever.
My improvement doesn’t look so great now.

I also asked about the clean standard. It’s not even really stated well on the site. The argument seems to be based off of one place in the FAQ. It talks about the types of cleans and snatches, but Russell brought up a good point. Why would they specify on Badger for squat cleans when a clean is supposed to mean squat clean? Also in Grace, it’s clean and jerk, but it’s ground to overhead any way.
I think people are just using the video demo and some other dudes interpretation of the WOD. I’ve learned that there is a good amount of stuff posted on the site and message board that is BS or just misguided good intentions(trying to be the best CF coach on the internet). According to the comments on the site, a 23 year old male at 230lbs did this WOD in 1:45!
Oh, correction 28/m/5’10” and 230lbs, but still 1:45.
Started off at 95#. 10 reps in dropped to 85#.
12:42 as rx’ed at 95# (bruised collarbone to follow tomorrow), but assisted ring dips with toes on a box. Felt good on the cleans, but, have to practice more at getting sturdy and consistent on ring dips.

4:20 – squat cleans would have sucked after thrusters but there is definitely a valid reason for programming them into the WOD, personally my max clean would be alot higher if I was stronger/more comfortable dropping into the full squat position. sick time kevin

Had to watch my youngest this afternoon, so did “Mary” at home. Did this with limited kipping since chin up bar is in a doorway, and alternated legs like in the video on the mainsite. I’m sure my form was…err… lacking, however.
Did 7 full rounds and 10 one-legged squats. What little was left of my thighs after yesterday’s WOD is now toasted.
And a lot of you posted UNREAL times on today’s WOD! Well done!
Ain’t no damn way somebody did this workout in 1:45. I wish there was a way to bitch slap somebody over the interwebz 😀
