Run 10 K

    Ugh…….10K is the devil…..

    First 5K split was 31:09

    Ran another two mile loop for a total time of 56:24.

    Had to do interval run walk on the second half. Next time I’ll complete the full 6.4 miles.

    ….whine about how running sucks and at least we can knock out heavy deadlifts and pullups better than all the kate-moss thin runners who beat us)

    But seriously, I’ve seen more than one Kevin-Lowe sized CrossFitter beat full-time running nuts at this type of event. Let’s represent.

    52:00 done on treadmill
    Last time it was 54:02 on a CC course so I can’t really compare the two.

    I was hoping to break the hour mark, but couldn’t quite pull it off. Still, I beat my old PR by 4 minutes.

    Nice rain during the 6am run.

    10K = 54:30

    About the same as last time.

    Russ, I would do the triathalon, but according to the website, they are full at 500 entrants. Pretty impressive signup numbers at 3 weeks prior.

    We can always stage our own.

    50:08 in 5 fingers. Note: mud and 5 fingers do not mix well. Felt like I was ice skating on the muddy sections.

    10 k in 58:43. Had to do at home on treadmill-but I did add a slight incline. 58 sec more than last run. Didn’t feel so good…

    No 10k for me today. Yesterday’s death by clean and jerks left my lower back wrecked. It hurts to turn over in bed and get up off the couch. I have some hydrocodone left over from the bruised rib and it only slightly takes the edge off the pain.

    28:05 PR

    Felt better than normal during run (energy-wise) but my back is soooooore!! Wish I’d have kicked it up a notch and lost 6 more seconds to break 28.

    10k =53:52 this am it was very slick. I think I can break 50 on a dry day.

    *Ran after being in the iron lung MRI machine at 6 am today laying on my stomach with my elbow stretched out. I was told “just don’t move”. I told Russell it was worse than any X Fit workout I have ever done my back feels like I was “on the rack”.

    As rx by Dr. Howard Miller 45 minutes!!!

    25 somethin for the first 5k. Very slow. Humidity/heat was a major factor today (for me). Ran walked the rest for 62:05.

    34:18 for 5k, but walked more than usual, knowing I had to do it again. Compared to other times where I ran more (And my time was only slightly better), I guess that means my running pace is increasing. Went back to the 2 mile mark for a total time of 53:49-Walked a LOT of that, b/c I felt like was going to hurl, and was getting a blister on my foot.
    Thanks to the torturous run today, I got my ‘whine’ for the day, since i can’t have any of the real stuff on the Zone.
    4th day on in a row…Think that has something to do with it too. Thank goodness tomorrow’s a rest day!

    29:05 for the 5K, which is a PR by 2 minutes and 30 seconds. That earned me the privelege of going home! I felt really good on this run today.

    (and my 28:05 was for the 5K…not the 10K…that would pretty darn amazing.)

    10K row: 48:45
    Sorta weird being in the Matrix big room all by my lonesome.
    Had to stop every 2.5K to stretch out the low back for a few seconds. Got into a sorta Zen-state between 6K – 8K and the distance passed quickly, the last 2000m was a complete suckfest, but my fastest split.

    Tried to run the 10K at 10:30 this evening. Rank 2.7 miles with Krista at a mild pace as a warm-up, but stepped off the curb and re-sprained the ankle twice. Waited until 11:15 and tried again, but this time the ankle was stiff and really sore. I’m going to have to make up the 10K. blah

    did 5k in a.m. 29:15….wanted to try to complete the other half, but i had to tag team with my hubby so he could get to work. I LOVE LONG RUNS!!! im the Clydesdale with all the Thoughbreds (or Kate Moss look alikes) at marathons.

    Skipped the 10K only to drive to Birmingham to celebrate my buddy’s birthday with a WOD. (Forrest is the guy that introduced me to CrossFit and started all of this nonsense!). So…here was the WOD created by Luan (one of the judges at the Huntsville games)….surprisingly the 400m run and the slapping push-ups were the WORST! It was very fun doing a team event like this. Perhaps the occasional team event at CFHSV is not a bad idea. Good way to learn people’s names (no laughing Justin)….since there is so many of us now. Anywho….the WOD.

    F- front squat, 75/55#
    O – overhead med ball run, 400m
    R – ring dips
    R – reverse walking lunges, holding medball overhead
    E – elbows-to-knees. (same as knees to elbows, had to get creative)
    S – slapping push ups, hands slap chest (every thing else was already legs legs legs that started with and “s”. split cleans, squats, snatches, etc plus i dont think theyve done them ever)
    T – Thrusters, 75/55#

    33 Reps.
    teams of two will do 66 reps, teams of three 99 reps. etc.
    only one person can work at a time.
    on the run, the team has to stay together. Med ball has to be overhead the whole time.

    Oh yeah….very interesting run picture for today’s WOD. Notice any differences in the running styles???

    Perhaps a POSE clinic is on the horizon?

    An ugly day running. Legs felt like bricks. I have not been having much trouble running, especially in the last six months, but this was an exception. I have not had to walk in a run in years – but did several times throughout. Finished the 5K and had my mind up to quit. After about 2 minutes talking to Russ, I decided to get back out and see if I could finish. Not sure it was a good thing, but at least I ran it all. Took me a record long time. I think Russ said 68+ minutes. Wow! It will be easy to beat that next time.
